Free Food Pantry Software in 2026: What Is Actually Free

Updated 24 October 2026 · each publisher’s claims read on its own site or announcement (dates in the sources)

Short answer: there are three kinds of free.

The free tools centre on the front of the line (finding a pantry, reservations, check-in, messages, reports). None of the free tools whose features we read (Plentiful, Full) describes shelf inventory, recall tracing or temperature logs.

Need the food side too? Try PantryPOS free for 30 days. Intake with TEFAP records, client-choice checkout, FIFO inventory, lot recall tracing, temperature logs and an offline mode, no card. $39/month for your first location after the trial, unlimited users.

Which free option fits

Your food bank provides a system: use it. It costs you nothing and your reports reach the food bank without retyping. Does my food bank require Service Insights or Link2Feed?

Your problem is the line (long waits, no way to tell people about a closure) and you have no budget: Plentiful or Full is built for that, free.

Your problem is the shelf and the paperwork (what is near its date, which households got a recalled lot, fridge readings, the TEFAP records a monitor checks): Plentiful and Full do not describe those. That is what PantryPOS is for, and a pantry can run it beside a free reservation tool. PantryPOS vs Plentiful.

Questions pantries ask

Is there free food pantry software?

Yes. Plentiful says its pantry tool is free and always will be; Full says many of its features are free for pantries. Some food banks provide Service Insights, Link2Feed or another system to partner agencies at no cost. PantryPOS, FoodBank Manager and Oasis Insight offer free trials rather than free plans.

What does free food pantry software usually leave out?

The free tools we checked centre on reservations, check-in, messaging and reporting. Their published materials do not describe shelf inventory, lot-level recall tracing or fridge and freezer temperature logs.

Should I ask my food bank before choosing software?

Yes. A system your food bank provides may cost nothing and roll your reports up automatically, and some food banks require it in the partner agreement.
