A PantryTrak Alternative: PantryPOS vs PantryTrak (now FreshTrak)
Short answer: PantryTrak is now FreshTrak:Service, part of the FreshTrak platform run by the Mid-Ohio Food Collective. It is built “by food banks, for food banks”: a food bank adopts it and its partner pantries work inside it. If your food bank runs FreshTrak, keep using it. If you are a pantry choosing software for yourself, PantryPOS has a published price — $39 a month for your first location, 30-day free trial, no card — and adds the food side: inventory, recalls and cold chain.
Looking for the PantryTrak login?
PantryPOS is not PantryTrak and cannot reset a PantryTrak account. The old PantryTrak address now opens the FreshTrak:Service sign-in page at secure.pantrytrak.com. For a lost password or a new user account, ask the food bank that gave your pantry access, or FreshTrak itself at freshtrak@mofc.org (listed on its contact page).
What PantryTrak / FreshTrak offers
According to FreshTrak’s own history page, Mark Mollenkopf created PantryTrak after volunteering at a food pantry (2009–2011); the Mid-Ohio Food Collective hired him and rolled it out network-wide in 2012, getting electronic-signature approval for fully electronic TEFAP service in Ohio that December; it was rebranded FreshTrak in 2019. Its about page says Feeding America adopted the platform in 2021 and it returned to Mid-Ohio Food Collective stewardship in 2025. The sign-in page still reads “For more than 15 years PantryTrak has set the standard for supporting food pantries and food banks — now enhanced as FreshTrak:Service.”
FreshTrak is now five connected parts sharing one neighbor record:
- FreshTrak: Service — “Pantry Manager & food bank operations”: intake, distribution, TEFAP/CSFP compliance and network reporting.
- FreshTrak: Customer — a neighbor app to find food, reserve a time and enroll once with a profile that works across programs.
- FreshTrak: Health — food-as-health referrals, a care-team CRM and nutrition scoring, with Epic and Visionlink integration.
- FreshTrak: Insights — dashboards, demand forecasting and grant-ready reporting.
- FreshTrak: Connect — an open API to pull, push and sync data; FreshTrak says the API “gives the data back to you”.
It reports 55 million+ service visits and 1,700+ partner agencies. Pricing is not published; the site asks food banks to get in touch for a demo.
Where PantryPOS is different
Who buys it. FreshTrak is food-bank infrastructure: the food bank adopts it and its agencies use it. PantryPOS can be started by a single pantry on its own — sign up, and the pantry is live the same day — or by a food bank for its network.
Published price. PantryPOS is $39 a month for the first location and $29 for each added location up to ten, month to month, with unlimited staff, clients and volunteers and a 30-day free trial that needs no card.
The food side. FreshTrak’s published materials centre on the neighbor record, compliance, health referrals and network data. PantryPOS also runs the shelf: FIFO inventory with expiration warnings, lot and barcode recall tracing (a supplier recall produces a list of the households that may have received it), cold-chain temperature logs, per-item waste, and donation tax-receipt letters, plus client-choice checkout, appointments with a waitlist, volunteer shifts and an offline mode. It keeps the TEFAP records a monitor asks for — who picked up (the household or a named proxy), each eligibility declaration as it was on the day, a printable signed distribution log, and TEFAP stock reconciled lot by lot — with each State’s TEFAP rules on screen.
Your data. PantryPOS exports clients, visits, inventory and reports to CSV from inside the app at any time, and has scoped API keys for your own dashboards.

When PantryTrak / FreshTrak is the better choice
If your food bank runs FreshTrak, stay on it: your visits roll up into the food bank’s reporting, a neighbor who enrolled once is recognised across programs, and the food bank supports it. It also goes further than PantryPOS on health partnerships (clinic referrals, Epic integration) and on network-wide forecasting. PantryPOS fits an independent pantry that wants to choose its own tool, see the price up front, and track the food as well as the visit — or a pantry that wants inventory and recall tracing alongside the food bank’s system.
